Many businesses offer professional development programs in which employees’ talents are assessed to find a match between their talents and company’s needs. In the PRecision Curriculum program at Poston Communications, team members take the time to learn the components of both personal and professional development opportunities, which can then be used to guide career goals and construct an actionable plan.
This is what distinguishes Poston Communications’ approach to professional growth. Our firm seeks opportunities to help team members reach their full potential.
After graduating from Florida State University in May 2018, I joined the team as a summer intern and quickly found an encouraging and inspirational atmosphere in both the camaraderie with team members and curriculum instruction.
Like many other college students, I had no idea what I wanted to do when starting school and to this day, find myself exploring various avenues in the hopes of finding the right fit. Poston Communications’ curriculum, which maps paths for professional development from internships to senior leadership roles, gave me new insight into the direction I want to take my career. This curriculum is a comprehensive guide to navigating client service, media relations and other various aspects that come with working in public relations.
I had the opportunity to get my feet wet in PR by utilizing the skills taught in the curriculum. Practicing and implementing my newly acquired media relations knowledge, I was able to pitch ideas to various publications to secure media placements on behalf of Poston’s clients. As a result, I achieved placements for our clients in Bloomberg Law and Intellectual Property Magazine, to name a few.
And while I found the media relations process exciting, my personal ambition to pursue a career in writing and content development flourished. After discussing my aspirations with our firm leadership, they gave me opportunities to experience the Poston Content side of our house. I have been drafting and refining practice area descriptions and learning about the content management process.
The creative, innovative, supportive and constructive environment cultivated by Poston Communications through initiatives and tools such as our career development plan is just one of many reasons that I believe I am exactly where I am supposed to be.
