Chambers and Partners USA 2023: Congratulations and What’s to Follow

So, you’ve received notification that your firm and some of your attorneys will be recognized in the upcoming Chambers and Partners USA Edition. What now?

Ideally, you’ve got your marketing plan already. You’ve prepared what you could of your internal announcement and press release(s) and decided whether you’ll be purchasing additional advertising or a paid profile. If you haven’t, it’s still OK or even good to take a beat. Recognize the efforts that went into the project and celebrate! Chambers recognition is a top legal award, and such accolades can help sway decision-makers in choosing to work with your firm. And you did integral work to make that happen!

Once you and your team have processed the win, informed your firm’s leadership committee and scheduled your social media posts, it is time to reflect. This may not be a fun practice per se, but conducting a debrief of the process for you, your team and your firm is vital to continued and even increased success. In doing this, ask yourself the following questions:

  • What worked? Recall and document what part of the process was smooth. Maybe a client was particularly happy to assist, or you wrote a knockout summary of a significant matter.
  • What didn’t work? Perhaps you misunderstood a case and summarized it vaguely, or a client listed as a referee had since left the company.
  • What can you improve for next time?

With these reflections, you can set your action items, prioritize them and assign those tasks to responsible team members. Remember to include time buffers in your project plan to ensure you’re not scrambling just before submission deadlines. However, it’s also important to remember that not everything is in your control. Be reasonable about what is achievable and be prepared to be flexible.
