
Chambers USA Announces 2018 Guide to Top Lawyers and Law Firms, 2019 Research Schedule

On May 3, Chambers USA released the 2018 edition of Chambers USA, a guide to top law firms and lawyers covering 45 practice areas on a state and national level. Chambers employs 170 full-time editors and researchers to rank law firms and lawyers across the globe. Many factors are included in this measurement, including:
- Sophistication of work
- Client service
- Depth of team
- Value for money
- Culture and accessibility
- Commercial awareness
At the 2018 Legal Marketing Association Annual Conference in New Orleans, Chambers USA Editor Toby Eccleshall spoke to a capacity crowd about the benefits and methodology of this venerable research institution. Legal marketers interested in beginning the process of a Chambers submission for possible inclusion in the 2019 edition are advised to review this list of recent changes and new sections provided by Eccleshall.
Chambers USA 2019 Research Schedule and Changes
The schedule for the Chambers USA 2019 Guide is now online.
Most of the submission and referee spreadsheet deadlines remain the same from last year; however, the following have changed:
- Nationwide Investment Funds (all subsections) – August 2
- Nationwide Privacy & Data Security – September 6
- Nationwide REITs – July 12
- Nationwide Retail – September 6
- Oklahoma (all sections) – July 14
- Montana (all sections) – September 6
This list may not be exhaustive, so please make sure you note your deadlines carefully.
The confirmed new sections in the guide are:
- Nationwide Cannabis Law
- Arizona Insurance
- North Carolina Construction
- Texas Employee Benefits
- Upstate New York Labor & Employment
Chambers USA also will be accepting submissions and referee spreadsheets for sections that were included in the guide for the first time last year without submissions from firms. These are:
- Alabama Environment
- Indiana Intellectual Property
- Maryland Insurance
- Tennessee Intellectual Property
Chambers USA now will be accepting separate submissions and referee spreadsheets for the following sections:
- Delaware Corporate/M&A and Delaware Corporate/M&A: Alternative Entities
- District of Columbia Environment and District of Columbia Environment: Mainly Transactional
- Massachusetts Litigation: General Commercial and Massachusetts Litigation: White-Collar Crime & Government Investigations. Please include any securities litigation work highlights on the Litigation: General Commercial submission
