On April 23, Chambers USA released its 2020 guide to top law firms and lawyers, covering 45 practice areas by state and nationally.
Considered by many law firms to be the preeminent legal directory, Chambers continues to be an important source of comparative intelligence about law firms, and almost always is part of the mix of resources that clients and other legal professionals use to learn more about a firm. The submissions have become increasingly competitive as law firms continue to increase the resources dedicated to making their case for inclusion.
Each of the rankings is the result of a lengthy submission and in-depth interview process, which provides Chambers with a robust understanding of each attorney and law firm. Many factors are included in this measurement, including:
- Technical legal ability;
- Client service;
- Commercial vision and business understanding;
- Diligence;
- Value for money; and
- Depth of team.
Chambers 2021 Research Schedule and Changes
The schedule for the Chambers USA 2021 Guide is also now online.
With deadlines falling between late July and December, Chambers is delaying the start of the research period “due to the complexities caused by these unprecedented times.” The new research schedule contains deadlines for each practice area.
In a recent memo, Chambers USA also announced changes to its submission template, which now includes a request for D&I statistical information. As explained by Chambers USA editor Toby Eccleshall, “This information helps us to better understand the profession, provide context to our rankings and drive change. For more information about this request, please see our FAQs.”
A ranking in Chambers is an ideal platform to elevate the reputation of your firm and lawyers. For attorneys and law firms considering submitting in the upcoming season, we’ve put together a list of best practices and insider tips for successful Chambers submissions.
