In an article published by Society for Human Resource Management on October 18, Poston Communications Vice President Megan Paquin provides advice for human resource professionals on how businesses can attract employees when faced with negative PR.
“Recruits don’t want to hear a company was unfairly portrayed,” Paquin says. “Rather, they want to hear from an informed HR leader who can acknowledge the issue and reinforce the company’s values as demonstrated through the actions it took to resolve that issue.”
It is important for HR leaders to create and implement a communication strategy that addresses issues created by negative PR. Paquin explains that HR leaders “should have an understanding of the root cause of allegations made against a company and the actions the company will take to remedy such issues.”
