LMA’s Your Honor Awards is an international awards program that recognizes excellence in legal marketing. In 2018, there were six categories: Business Development, Business of Law, Client Services, Marketing Management and Leadership, Communications and Technology. These categories align with the LMA Body of Knowledge and cover virtually every discipline within legal marketing. We had the opportunity to chat with Heather McCullough of Society 54, who is serving as the co-chair for this year’s awards.
Q. How would you describe this year’s awards?
A. Dynamic! LMA members took to heart submitting initiatives that they felt passionate about for their firms. There were some standout submissions. Also, the judges were truly engaged and excited about the process, which made it fun. Robert Algeri of Great Jakes was my co-chair. He brought a fresh perspective as we refined our approach and process this year. We spent a lot of time thinking about how to raise awareness and make sure everyone could share their amazing work with the whole organization as we all benefit from this sharing of information.
Q. What was the most interesting submission this year?
A. We saw some exciting submissions that made me think, “OK, now we’re really starting to push the envelope.” There were many initiatives that could be implemented regardless of a firm’s size or geographic location. There was one project in particular that was impressive because of the spend in relation to the output. The final product was something that every firm needs and can certainly add to the budget.
Q. Now that we’re all inspired, what’s next for Your Honor Awards?
A. There’s a lot of energy within the various regions around streamlining their own awards programs. The next step is to harness that energy and enhance the awards overall.
