Poston Communications is pleased to announce that Vice President Mikey Mooney has been selected to PRNEWS’ Rising PR Stars 30 & Under for 2019. The PRNEWS Group focuses on the communications and PR industry within corporations, agencies and nonprofits with its commitment to training, informational newsletters and multimedia, event programs and more. The PRNEWS awards celebrate outstanding performance by individuals and highlight top talent and creativity throughout the public relations and communications industry. Mooney will be honored at the December 12 PRNEWS’ PR People Awards Luncheon at the Georgetown Marriott in Washington, D.C., along with fellow award winners who “set benchmarks of excellence in public relations.”
“Mikey is a driving force at our agency and in the public relations community,” said Dave Poston, chief executive officer of Poston Communications. “From innovative communications strategies to playing a large role in our digital services and leading a team across three states, Mikey’s energy is electric and unites clients and colleagues alike with a focused vision.”
An example of Mooney’s above-and-beyond performance is his high-caliber digital strategies, excellence in creating business development opportunities for nine clients, and attention to integrating content and media relations services in fresh ways for B2B clients.
“He leads teams to impressive results,” added Poston Communications President Monica Smith. “In one year alone, his team helped secure 70 media placements focused on one law firm’s extensive growth, his national retail consumer credit client closed deals with an expected lifetime revenue of hundreds of millions of dollars, and a legal tech startup that Mikey serves increased its annual revenue to approximately $500,000, thanks to its business development-aligned PR strategy. His extraordinary ability to advance communications goals for his clients while serving as an influential leader on our team is rightfully being praised with this PRNEWS’ award.”
Mooney also dedicates time as a trusted mentor for his colleagues and helped create Poston’s award-winning PRecision Curriculum program, covering important development topics for young PR professionals beginning their careers. He is active in recruiting and developing talent at the junior and senior levels and leads the Atlanta office.
In addition, Mooney serves as a mentor for AdPR Academy – a collegiate program aimed at advancing diversity in PR, assists with the “Playmakers” board for Playworks Georgia – a nonprofit focused on childhood development – and is the youngest board member of the Georgia Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).
He was also the recipient of PRSA Georgia’s Rising Star award for 2017.
Mooney holds a bachelor’s degree in advertising and a master’s degree in advertising and public relations from the University of Georgia.
