Cyber attacks continue to top the list of fears that keep law firm leaders up at night. Poston Communications’ Crisis & Litigation PR team is often asked about whether, when and how firms should respond. Using our Plan, Respond, Advocate process, we encourage firms to proactively consider cybersecurity in their crisis communications plans.
We were honored to be published this week by ALM’s The Legal Intelligencer, in a column titled, “Cyber Attacks are the New Normal, Be Prepared to Respond.” Authored by CEO Dave Poston and our newest team member, Vice President Ioana Good, the article addresses the “not if but when” mentality that law firms must adopt in order to avoid catastrophic consequences.
“A communications and data breach plan provides a road map to follow when something goes wrong,” the authors write. “In these plans, it is important to appoint key employees with responsibilities and test the plan, the security controls and key systems often. Outline the action steps for handling the breach or the negative news and map out a follow-up procedure.”
