Erin Brereton is a Chicago-based writer, editor and content strategist who brings more than 20 years’ experience to Poston as a content consultant.
Brereton has held several editorial and marketing positions during her career, including editor in chief of Commercial Law World magazine, associate publisher at a custom publishing company and the Commercial Law League’s director of marketing and communications. In 2001, she created the concept for and oversaw the launch of mary-kateandashley, a magazine with a circulation of 1 million.
In addition to writing and editing several nonfiction books, Brereton previously taught writing courses for Columbia College and Mediabistro and has produced marketing, advertising and corporate communication projects and campaigns for a number of international, regional and Fortune 500 companies; legal associations; Am Law 100 law firms and other organizations.
A graduate of Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, Brereton has also written articles about the legal industry, business and other topics for dozens of publications—including the Chicago Tribune, Legal Management, MoFo Tech, Wealth, Interest.com, Tax Strategist, Your Financial Life, FedTech, multi-housingnews.com, Medical News, Life & Style Weekly, American Builders Quarterly, Profile and AALL Spectrum.
A current American Society of Journalists and Authors professional-level member, Brereton also co-founded Ed2010 Chicago, media networking group Ed2010’s first satellite organization, in 2000—and has been involved with a number of other organizations as a board member and volunteer, including the Medill Alumni Club of Chicago, the Center for Economic Progress, charter school KIPP Ascend and Jobs for Youth, where she was chosen as volunteer of the year in 2011.
