Poston Communications is accepting applications for a Vice President based in Denver, New York City or Washington, D.C.

This is a leadership role on our team and serves as a “face of our firm” to our valued clients. The individual selected will be entrepreneurial, able to work independently and is a proven self-starter. This professional should be committed to developing new business and providing new solutions to existing clients.

This results-oriented team leader is responsible for account management, including day-to-day activity, oversight of account teams and budget management of multiple high-profile clients. In addition to understanding our clients’ work and business development goals, he or she possesses presentation skills and can lead regular client meetings and presentations proactively and with confidence.

This person leads our team when it comes to the development of creative PR pitch ideas and exceptional client service. He or she will also effectively manage multiple accounts and client demands and be motivated by our fast-paced work environment.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 to 20 years of experience in a PR agency or in-house at a professional services firm.
  • Leadership experience in work, community or civic organizations. We are looking for individuals who demonstrate their ability to influence and to lead others and themselves well.
  • Proven results when it comes to sales and business development of PR and content services to professional services firms.
  • Proven ability to phone pitch journalists. Must be able to share specific and measurable examples of this during the interview process.
  • Solid, demonstrated relationships with reporters at national print media outlets.
  • Experience managing multiple, high-profile accounts with daily pitching requirements.

Account Supervisor

The Account Supervisor serves as a leader on our team and as a “face of our firm” to our valued clients.

Account Executive

Poston Communications is accepting applications for an Account Executive who will be resident in our Atlanta or Orlando offices.

The Account Executive understands our clients’ work and business development goals and serves as a valued member of the account team, monitoring current events, proactive PR opportunities and ensuring quality of all communications.

The Account Executive prepares proactive media pitches, press releases and other media relations documents on a daily basis and pitches stories to national and local media contacts by phone. He or she develops and nurtures relationships with reporters from national and local business and trade media outlets, and tracks for media results and client placements.

Working with account managers and agency leadership to develop and execute media relations plans and client messaging strategies, the Account Executive participates in client meetings and presentations with confidence and monitors the team’s progress and results.

Special consideration will be given for candidates with commercial real estate, legal and financial services experience to assume a leadership role on accounts in those industries.

Summer Interns, Atlanta and Orlando

Poston Communications is accepting applications for our Summer 2019 Internship Program. Candidates will be accepted in both our Atlanta and Orlando offices.

As part of our commitment to excellence, we develop future leaders in PR. We created our Internship Program to provide hands-on experience combined with learning opportunities for recently graduated individuals, undergraduate students in their senior year of college and graduate students.

Through our PRecision Curriculum, our semester-long program covers all substantive areas that prepare our interns to take on the role of Assistant Account Executive in our firm, as well as leadership topics, workstyle assessments and discussions on real-life career issues. Our interns are assigned to client teams, write and pitch story ideas to reporters, and coordinate media placements.

We also provide opportunities for interns to engage with the local community, through our partnerships with other organizations. These include volunteer activities, networking and educational / leadership programs.

We’re looking for future-focused, self-starters with demonstrated leadership in their school work, extracurricular activities and their communities. Interns should be motivated by our fast-paced work environment and ready to be a team-player.

Responsibilities

  • Drafts basic public relations materials, including news releases, pitches, media alerts, fact sheets, client meeting summaries, status reports and other materials.
  • Observes client meetings, media training sessions, presentations and brainstorming sessions, all to develop a basic understanding of our clients’ work.
  • Develops and updates media lists and other databases, including client, marketing, prospect and administrative databases.
  • Pitches by phone to journalists at local, national and trade publications, with direction of the account team.
  • Provides ongoing monitoring, tracking and reporting for secured media placements.
  • Assists with administrative duties, including managing newspaper and periodical inventories, researching editorial calendar opportunities and various other activities that keep our agency running well.
  • Supports the agency with client, business development and management projects.

Requirements

  • Recent graduates or those with senior-class standing from public relations, communications, marketing or other related programs. Strong preference is given to candidates who are eligible for full-time hire at completion of the program.
  • Previous internship or relevant work experience in a PR agency, professional services firm or other professional office setting. Must possess a basic understanding of and enthusiasm for an agency environment.
  • Leadership experience in school, community or civic organizations. While official positions are not required, we are looking for individuals who demonstrate their ability to influence, and to lead others and themselves well.
  • Must be able to dedicate a minimum of 35 hours per week to the internship.
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage multiple priorities and to undertake basic public relations writing assignments.
  • Possess exceptional time management skills, basic media relations skills and an ability to interact professionally with others.
