As of this month, the countdown to the 2026 Chambers season has begun. While the official research schedule is expected to be released in early May and the 2025 rankings scheduled to be revealed in early June, there’s no better moment to begin preparing and strategizing for next year’s submissions.
While many of you may have already started thinking about your submissions, here are some key tips to keep in mind as we gear up for the new rankings.
1. Get Attorney Buy-In
It’s crucial that the attorneys connected to your submission are fully on board and involved. If they aren’t, your submissions may end up incomplete, which could decrease your chances of success.
2. Give Yourself Enough Time
Make sure to set internal deadlines that give you and your team ample time to gather, proofread and edit your materials before the official submission date. Rushing the process can lead to missed details and incomplete submissions.
3. Understand Chambers’ Assessment Criteria
Familiarize yourself with the key factors Chambers uses to evaluate firms, such as technical legal ability, commercial vision, diligence and depth of expertise. Tailor your submission to highlight these qualities as doing so can strengthen your case for recognition.
4. Be Precise and Relevant
Chambers researchers review many submissions, so clarity and conciseness are essential. Avoid legal jargon and focus on the aspects most relevant to your practice area. Using straightforward language will help ensure your firm’s strengths are clearly communicated and understood.
5. Use the Provided Templates and Forms
Chambers provides specific templates and forms for submissions – be sure to use them. The information you submit goes into a computer system/database, and deviations from the provided format can harm the accuracy of how your materials are processed, potentially hurting your ranking chances.
6. Highlight Key Matters
Showcase matters that best demonstrate your firm’s expertise and achievements. Be specific about the challenges your firm faced, your approach and the outcomes. Remember to protect client confidentiality by anonymizing sensitive details and/or including them in the confidential section. Focusing on landmark cases or those that reflect significant complexity can make your submission stand out.
7. Share Fresh Insight and Information
Avoid rehashing old content such as website bios. Ensure your submission includes the latest developments and highlights new achievements, deals or case successes that showcase your firm’s strengths.
8. Demonstrate Consistency
Highlight your firm’s track record of consistent performance by showcasing repeat business or long-term client relationships. Chambers values sustained excellence and reliability, and demonstrating this can help set your firm apart from the competition.
9. Stay Engaged with the Process
While it’s not necessary to form a close relationship with the researchers, it’s important to stay informed about where your submission is in the process. Don’t hesitate to reach out with questions – we have found that researchers will be happy to assist you.
Starting your preparation for the 2026 rankings now is key to positioning your firm for success. By getting ahead of the process and staying informed, you’ll maximize your chances of standing out in next year’s rankings. Be sure to watch for updates as they come and make this year’s submissions count by taking a strategic, well-informed approach.
